Most eligible workers must wait at least three weeks for their unemployment benefits claim to be processed and paid. If you prefer to receive payments by Bank of America EDD Card, Bank of America will send you a card once your benefits have been received. Due to the high volume of claims being processed, your EDD Debit Card may take a few extra days to arrive in the mail.
You will get your benefit payments on an EDD Debit Card if you received Unemployment Insurance, Disability Insurance, or Paid Family Leave benefits on that card in the previous three years. If your card has expired, a new one will be provided to you as soon as funds become available. You must seek a replacement card if you were issued one before 2015. Replace My Card on Bank of America’s website or call 1-866-692-9374 for more information (TTY: 1-866-656-5913).
If you lose your EDD Debit Card, call Bank of America as soon as possible to acquire a replacement card before making your first payment. Your new card will be delivered within 7 to 10 business days of placing your order.
Using the EDD Visa Debit Card, the EDD pays benefits for Disability Insurance, Paid Family Leave, and Unemployment Insurance claims. The EDD does not conduct a credit check or monitor this prepaid debit card, so it is a quick, simple, and secure way to receive your benefit payments. You should maintain your card until it expires because it is valid for three years from the day it was issued and is used for all EDD benefit programmes.
If you have never had an EDD Debit Card and your first benefit payment has been approved, Bank of America will mail you one the next business day. You will not need to wait for a new debit card if you previously had one that is still active. We’ll keep loading funds onto your existing card, and you’ll have instant access to them. You should maintain your card until it expires because it is valid for three years from the day it was issued and is used for all EDD benefit programmes.
Download the Bank of America Prepaid Card app from any app store to keep track of your EDD Debit Card payments and balance information. Payment information is updated daily and can be found in your UI Online account or by dialing 1-866-333-4606 to reach the UI Self-Service Phone Line.
If your card has expired and there has been activity on it in the last 90 days, or if there is a balance of $20 or more on your account, Bank of America will automatically send you a replacement card before it expires.
Replacement cards will arrive in 7 to 10 business days from the time you place your order. If you’ve already requested a replacement card, don’t ask for another. When you order a second card, the first one is permanently blocked, which may create a delay in receiving your payments.
